Learning Environment

Creating a successful learning environment involves several key components, but the three most important parts are  maximizing instructional time and minimizing disruptions, respecting students’ diversity, and working with students individually as well as in small and whole groups. These components ensure every student feels safe and respected in the classroom. When students feel safe, respected, and welcomed in the classroom, they are more receptive to being active participants in their learning. Teachers must take advantage of every moment in the classroom to create well-rounded individuals. The diversity of today’s classroom is a microcosm of society. Every student should be treated with respect, and treat others with respect. In this way, teachers can use their classrooms to harness the growth of socially cognizant, respectful, kind human beings.

Cooperative Learning

The classroom is a diverse community of students. In order to foster interpersonal skills and cooperation, students should be given opportunities to work together. Cooperative learning encourages students to find and use their strengths and promotes problem solving skills.
